  • How much water does a sprinkler system use?

Just to give you an idea, according to World Metrics, the average American lawn is over 10,000 square feet. With this in mind, we've found that it typically takes somewhere between 10 to 35 minutes per zone, depending on the type of irrigation heads your sprinkler system has. Rotor heads must run around 25 to 35 minutes per zone whereas spray heads can typically do the job in 10 to 15 minutes per zone based on our experience. The size of your yard will determine exactly how much water is used. Call us for sprinkler services or to learn more!

  • Do I need to winterize my irrigation system?

You absolutely must get the water out of your pipes, valves, and heads before the first deep freeze. If water freezes and expands, things break, and that means a costly sprinkler system repair.

  • Do I need a permit to irrigate my property?

In Georgia, you don't need a permit to irrigate your lawn, but you do need a permit from the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) for a water withdrawal if the pump involved in the withdrawal point is capable of pumping 100,000 gallons per day, as supported by the DEC. Irrigation companies will be able to inform you on any necessary paperwork or permits you may need.

  • What are the advantages of having an irrigation system?

-Provides Convenience: Sprinkler systems handle all watering. They're set to run on timers or a manual control. Furthermore, they easily water a large surface area with no additional work from the homeowner.

-Waters at the Right Time: The best time to water the lawn is usually early in the morning, but most aren’t excited to wake up just to run outside with a hose. Timers ensure the yard always gets watered at the right time, even when homeowners are away on vacation.

-Promotes Healthy Grass and Soil: Routine watering with a sprinkler system keeps grass and soil healthy. This leads to more vibrant color, less patchiness, and healthy regrowth in the spring.

-Keeps the Perfect PH Balance: A major influence on grass quality is soil composition and acidity. Balancing a lawn’s pH is tricky, but water plays a huge role in promoting the optimal balance. This is done through smart controllers that monitor soil moisture and account for weather.

  • How much does a new system cost? What is included?

    • Backflow preventer
    • Pipe
    • Timer
    • Valves
    • Valve boxes
    • Sprinkler heads
    • Fittings

  • Does my sprinkler system need yearly maintenance?

As a general rule of thumb, you should have your sprinkler system serviced at least twice per year, according to Lawn Love. You can schedule an inspection before the winter season to ensure that it’s properly winterized and another inspection before the start of the spring season when you’ll begin relying on your system heavily to keep your lawn looking great. We offer sprinkler system repair and other comprehensive services, so be sure to call today!

  • What are the different types of sprinkler systems?

When it comes to how you water your lawn, you have options. There are four basic irrigation systems to choose from when working with irrigation companies:

    • Sprinkler Irrigation – This is a traditional method that mimics natural rainfall.

    • Drip Irrigation – For this system, narrow tubes send water directly to the base of the plant. This is best for flower beds and gardens.

    • Subsurface Irrigation – Buried tubes direct water to plants, much like the drip irrigation method. Subsurface irrigation is often used in very dry climates or sandy soil where evaporation is a risk.

    • Surface Irrigation – This is the most common choice for today’s homeowners. That's because this method covers a lot of ground in a quick amount of time.

  • Does an irrigation system add value to your home?

Bankrate found that homes that include a well-maintained landscape and lawn go for 5.5% to 12.7% more compared to homes with no landscaping at all. Most realtors agree, and they coach their clients to improve the seller’s property’s curb appeal with sprinkler services before putting the home on the market.

  • How long does it take to install an irrigation system?

Based on our past projects, the total time it takes to install a lawn irrigation system is roughly one to two days. This includes digging trenches for any necessary underground piping, placing the piping, wiring, sprinkler heads, and valves, and connecting your sprinkler system to your water supply.
